IS THE ART MARKET REGULATED
IS THE ART MARKET REGULATED
The art market is not regulated, and as Beta Fine is a gallery, we are not required to be regulated by the FCA. However, we are a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild, which ensures high standards of practice and offers protections for customers.
The Guild works to maintain confidence in the art market by developing and upholding best practices in the industry. Some key protections include:
- Guild Print Standards: These standards ensure the quality and authenticity of prints, including requirements for lightfastness, approved materials, and production methods. This helps protect consumers from inferior quality prints.
- Limited Edition Regulations: The Guild recommends that the total edition size, including artist proofs, is kept below 850 copies worldwide, and it ensures that no further reproductions are made without proper authorisation.
- ArtSure Scheme: The ArtSure logo, used for digital fine art prints, guarantees adherence to the Guild's standards. Prints created by ArtSure members are tested for quality and registered in a searchable database, providing buyers with confidence in the authenticity of their purchase.
- Transparency and Documentation: The Guild requires specific documentation for all limited edition prints, ensuring full disclosure of edition size, materials used, and production details.
These practices help ensure the quality, transparency, and authenticity of artworks, giving buyers added security when purchasing from Guild members.

You can have your art delivered to your home address; however, many clients opt to have their artwork sent to our warehouse in Ireland, allowing them to keep it free from VAT and in the best condition. WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO SELL QUICKLY
WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO SELL QUICKLY
Art is not a liquid asset like stocks or bonds; it takes time to find the right buyer
WHAT ARE THE RISKS
WHAT ARE THE RISKS
Art is not a liquid asset like stocks or shares. The value of art can fluctuate, and there’s a chance it could drop significantly. Selling art may also take time, especially if market conditions change. While some artworks may appreciate in value, others may not, and there’s always a risk that a piece could be harder to sell or worth less than what you paid. Factors like an artist’s reputation, market trends, and demand can all impact the value of an artwork

DO I NEED TO PAY TAX
We highly recommend consulting with an independent tax advisor. If you sell (or 'dispose of') a personal asset, including art, for £6,000 or more, you may be liable to pay Capital Gains Tax on any profit (‘gain’) made.

ARE ART RETURNS GUARANTEED
No, returns on art are not guaranteed. The value of art can fluctuate based on various factors, and there is always a level of risk involved in any investment
ARE YOU A BROKER OR A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION
ARE YOU A BROKER OR A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION
We are not a broker or financial institution. We are a gallery that buys and sells art, as outlined clearly in our terms and conditions.
What is a limited edition print
What is a limited edition print
A limited edition print is a reproduction of artwork or photography produced in a set quantity. Each print is numbered and signed by the artist or photographer, making it rare, exclusive, and collectible.

"Art is difficult.
It's not entertainment. There are only a few people who can say something about art - it's very restricted. When I see a new artist I give myself a lot of time to reflect and decide whether it's art or not. Buying art is not understanding art."
— Anselm Kiefer
